Amidst the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in India, a number of companies are benefitting from new policies like 4-days work a week, paid salaries even when sick and also hikes as and when necessary. At Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the CEO Rajesh Gopinathan, got a salary hike of 52% which culiminated to over Rs. 55 crores in FY 2020-21. The company accounts remuneration, salary, allowances and more for its employees.
There is also a policy of fixed and earned commission for all the positions. In comparison to last year, his salary went down from Rs. 1.3 crores to Rs. 1.27 crores in FY2021. Similarly, TCS’s COO N G Subramanium also had a salary hike of 60% in comparison to last year.
The company is seeing a lot of beneficial upgrades to the team set up which is not a common scene in other MNCs around the country. By March 31st, the company had 4,88,650 total employees who were benefitting from an annual increment of 5.2% since 2020.
Gopinathan mentions that the company is in a much better place since last year when the pandemic was global and times were uncertain. He is glad that the worst is finally over. TCS has also ascertained a salary hike for all of its employees by October 2021. The company’s new model places the health of their employees as a priority. There are immense opportunities for everyone where work definitely comes in place but personal issues are of utmost relevance considering the situation around.
As long as the pandemic looms over the country, we are yet to see if TCS incorporates further benefits and other companies in India follow suit.
