Tata Motors has defeated the Japanese car company, Honda, to become the fourth largest carmaker in terms of sales in India during July-November. The launch of Hexa, Tigor, and Nexon is the main reason behind this achievement. Tata Motors is eyeing on the third spot in the country by 2019.
India is the world’s fifth-biggest car market and Maruti Suzuki is the largest domestic car company in the Indian market, followed by Hyundai and Mahindra & Mahindra.
However, Honda is still ahead of Tata Motors in the financial year 2018 so far with sales of 117,322, against Tata Motors’ sales of 115,049 units.
Tata Motors has sold 80,191 units in comparison to Honda’s 78,760 cars for the July-November period. Nexon which was launched in September has helped tata motors with 3,000 units sales per month.
Experts are saying that Tata Motors has seen this turnaround due to the reason that they have been reacting quicker to the market by introducing variants to their existing products and also launching new products at a good pace.
While launching new products has helped Tata to grow, the car business is still loss-making for Tata Motors, and now they are looking find a balance between volume and profitability, Chairman N Chandrasekaran had said in October.
