How will it happen?
Tata Motors will be introducing a 3D graphics-based digital configurator that will allow customers decide on an engine, brakes, suspension, seating configurations, and add-on kits. Once locked in by the customer, the back-end manufacturing, and supply chain will build the car as per desired requirements by accessing the specifications.
The App
All this will be enabled through the company’s existing eguru app, wherein the customer will be able to configure the car as per his needs. Choices made by a customer with an assigned configuration ID will be then loaded onto Tata Motors’ CRM system to proceed with order confirmation and payment processing. All data input will be accessed on TML SAP system for production, internal tracking, and until vehicle handover/delivery. A sales representative will be assigned to make the customer aware of all available options and help with the entire process.
Future Plans
Tata Motors wishes to extend this customization feature to its truck segment as well, in order to deliver a truck as per the exact requirements of the customer and his need of that transport medium. The expected price of this car is 12-15 lakhs and is in line with the competitors like Creta and Jeep Compass. The new Tata Harrier H5X will be offered with a 2.0-liter diesel engine mated to an MT and AT with 2WD as well as 4WD options on offer.
