SEREKO Launches ‘It’s Okay to Be Selfish’ Campaign On World Mental Health Day

On World Mental Health Day, SEREKO has launched its new campaign, It’s Okay to Be Selfish, encouraging individuals to set personal boundaries and prioritise their mental health. The campaign has highlighted the struggles of chronic people-pleasing and the importance of self-preservation.

SEREKO has reinforced its commitment to mental health by sharing a curated list of expert therapists on its social media channels, providing accessible support for individuals seeking guidance. The campaign has emphasised that emotional well-being is deeply connected to physical health, particularly the skin, reflecting the brand’s core psychodermatology philosophy.

Recent data has revealed that 1 in 3 individuals identify as chronic people-pleasers, with 56% of women and 42% of men consistently prioritising others’ needs over their own. Through storytelling, expert-led content, and community engagement, the campaign has aimed to normalise conversations around boundaries, self-compassion, and saying ‘no.’

The campaign has explored the emotional roots of people-pleasing, often linked to early experiences where approval was tied to love or safety, and has highlighted that setting boundaries, while sometimes uncomfortable, is a vital form of self-care.
