The chairman of India’s public service broadcaster, Navneet Kumar Sehgal, has resigned from his post. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has accepted his resignation under Section 7(6) of the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990.
As per media reports, the resignation has been accepted by the ministry, ending Sehgal’s brief tenure at the helm of the public broadcaster.
Sehgal, a 1988-batch retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, had been appointed as the head of Prasar Bharati on March 16, 2024.
He has brought to the role more than 35 years of leadership experience, having held senior positions in both central and state governments across departments such as media, public relations, general administration, finance, industry, law and order, land management, and home affairs.
He has superannuated from the civil services in July 2023, when he stepped down as Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, before taking on the chairmanship at Prasar Bharati.
