India’s most popular digital wallet Paytm has added new features to its app with several modifications. Paytm’s app will now have live television, news, cricket, entertainment videos and games to users within its Inbox option. CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma has always been the supporter of messaging service and adding other options will make users have more benefit.
Paytm has tied up with Hungama, UC News, and Yupp TV, among others, for content. With this, Paytm is expecting its user base to reach 120 million active users within this month. It has been also shared by the company that regional content will be their next area of focus.

“We will now offer various content from news to live TV to entertainment videos and games to further strengthen our relationship with the customers. Paytm has fast emerged as a super app for India and we will continue to add more offerings to our portfolio, giving our customers one more reason to use Paytm every day,”
said Deepak Abbot, senior vice president – Paytm.
Paytm has shared this info in a blog and it seems that Paytm Inbox will have a newsfeed where it will share links to news stories from popular platforms. Paytm wants to make its app a one-stop solution for users and by making entertainment options available, it will make sure that users don’t switch to other apps.
Experts believe that social payments is the next big thing in digital space as it provides the functionality of chat and mobile payments on the same platform. Companies have been trying to make the process smoother and faster. Tencent and Hike have also introduced payments on their messaging platform whereas, WhatsApp has also started testing payments via UPI. Truecaller has acquired mobile payments startup Chillr a few days ago marking its entry into the mobile payments space. Truecaller has over 150 million registered users in India.
