| Published on May 10, 2020

As reported by Sensor Tower, the Zoom app has now become the most downloaded app in the world for April 2020 in a non-gaming category. The app recorded around 131 million installations in the previous month which means that Zoom has surpassed TikTok and taken its place in the chart.

TikTok, which was the most downloaded app with over 115,2 million installations in March, registered 107 million installations in April and ranked 2nd.

For months TitkTok was bearing the crown as the most downloaded app but the video conferencing app gained the edge due to the coronavirus global lockdown. With everyone working from home, the video conferencing app played a crucial role in fulfilling the daily official tasks.

As for TikTok, the countries with the largest number of installs for the app were India at approximately 22 percent, followed by the U.S. at 9.4 percent.

While Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram got placed on the 3rd, 4th, & 5th positing respectively, India’s very own Aarogya Setu App stood 7th in the list just after Messenger.

Aarogya Setu is an Indian COVID-19 tracking mobile application developed by the National Informatics Centre and that comes under the government Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

While the Government has made the app mandatory to download and register on the app in various verticles of the government sector, many private companies and even so residential societies have been seeing a huge number of registrations on the app.

This will only ensure that the Aarogya Stu app is headed upwards on the list and may even surpass other apps in the coming months.

As of now, the Zoom app tops the list in India as well as out of the 131 million downloads 18.2 percent installs are from India alone, followed by the United States.
