Having started one of India’s leading social media agencies- Social Wavelength (later Mirum India: A VML Company) in April 2009 as Co-Founder and EVP, along with joint CEOs- Sanjay Mehta and Hareesh Tibrewala, Mihir Karkare has now decided to part ways from the digital agency.
Karkare had taken up the role of Managing Director at VML’s digital agency- Mirum India (part of WPP) in January 2024.
He took to LinkedIn to announce his departure from the agency and in his parting post, he mentioned, “Almost 16 years after starting Social Wavelength/Mirum India: A VML Company, its time for change. I’m moving on from my role as Managing Director @ Mirum and starting something new in 2025.”
“The last 16 years have been extremely gratifying and I’m moving on with tonnes of memories, several milestones achieved, and learnings for a lifetime. I’m grateful for all the opportunities I got, the fantastic work we did and most importantly for the great relationships we built at Mirum,” he added.
Earlier, in June 2024, Hareesh Tibrewala had also parted ways from Mirum India to join Anhad Consultancy Services.

Prior to joining Mirum India (formerly Social Wavelength), Karkare worked as Associate Software Engineer at e-Emphasys Technologies from July 2007 to April 2009.
During this time, he was a part of the xApps (Extended Applications) group, which made applications that extended the functionality of the core ERP solutions provided by e-Emphasys,, including a Field Service Scheduler, a laptop and mobile client for the same, a Customer Dashboard for basic CRM activities as well as a e-commerce solution completely integrated with the back end ERP.
As part of the xApps team at e-Emphasys, he was also involved in developing Microsoft Dynamics 4.0 CRM based solutions for clients, as well as Business Intelligence solutions using Microsoft technologies.
