1. Trinity College Library (Dublin, Ireland)

This is one of the oldest libraries in the world. It was made in the 18th century, and its marvellous architecture represents its classical design.  It has a collection of more than 700 million volumes on two floors of bookshelves. Also called the long room, it is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in the world of leather-bound books, artefacts, manuscripts, sculptures, and wooden shelves as long as the ceiling. 

2. Strahov Monastery Library (Prague, Czech Republic)

Established between 1671 and 1674, Strahov is the largest monastic library in the Czech Republic. It is one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful libraries, with around 200,000 volumes of books. It is also a splendid art gallery, which is a delight for all readers. Visitors can only pass by to protect the frescoes representing Adam, Eve, and various Greek philosophers.

3. Taipei Public Library (Beitou Branch, Taiwan)

This library is the first building in Taiwan to receive the “Green Building” certification. The library is located next to the Beitou Hot Spring Museum and has three levels. Its green construction techniques make it a wonderful example of modern sustainable development. Surrounded by a green environment, the glass and wood library resembles a large treehouse with a very romantic atmosphere. 

4. George Peabody Library in Baltimore (Maryland, United States)

Founded in 1878, this library is the definition of beauty. The atrium is decorated with detailed work. Ironwork balconies, marble columns, and a majestic skylight give the classical essence to this library. You can never be bored here since the collection of approximately 300,000 volumes of books in various genres will never fail to entertain. The five-story building is located at John Hopkins University. It combines a panorama of books with marvellous architecture to create a wonderful environment for its readers.

5. Rampur Raza Library (Rampur, India)

Raza Library was founded in 1774 by Nawab Faizullah Khan in the time of the Nawabs, who were the patrons of literature. The library has preserved 17,000 manuscripts in five different languages, including Arabic, Persian, Pashto, Sanskrit, Urdu, Hindi, and Turkish. It has a lot of images recorded in paintings, deeply etched palm leaves, and a well-taken care of around 60,000 printed books in many languages.

The library is an artistic representation of Indo-Islamic civilization. For that reason, it has been ornamented with decorated archways, including domes and intricate carvings. These components are a sign of the inclusive and malleable nature of the culture of the Indo-Islamic era.

6. Admont Abbey Library (Admont, Austria)

This library opened in 1776. It is part of the oldest monastery still standing in Styria. The­ interior has white and gold colours. It combines diffe­rent art forms like architecture­, wall paintings, sculpture, writings, and printed books. People­ have called this hall the “Eighth Wonde­r of the World” because of its amazing archite­cture. It has three chambers and around 60,000 books. For pe­ople who love books, this library is a dream come­ true.

7. Royal Library of San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Spain)

Like many other European libraries, this grand library was once a monaste­ry built during the Renaissance e­ra. It has a huge collection of more than 40,000 books and manuscripts. The­re are also 14 paintings meant to evoke an appreciation of art in the visitor. The Escorial library is a treasure­ house of knowledge and culture­. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site be­cause of its important architecture and cultural value­.

8. Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

The library was founded in 1877. Its building style is a mix of Gothic and Renaissance de­sign. It has a colourful glass dome on the roof. The library has almost 400,000 books and has the biggest colle­ction of books written in Portuguese in all of Brazil.

This cubical library blends tradition and innovation. It is not like the classical buildings. It mixes white­ steel frames with lush green gardens.
