Actor Anushka Sharma & Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli have together invested 2.5 Crore in Insurtech startup Digit Insurance.
Known for nacking youthful & health-conscious startups like Epigamia, fitness startup SARVA, and wearable tech startup GOQii, Kohli and his wife Anushka have chosen the fintech sector and in return got a total of 3.33 lakh equity shares as reported by Yourstory. In just two years of operation, the startup now claims to have served over five million customers and has achieved close to $300 million of annualised premium.
“While Virat Kohli has invested Rs.1.73 crore, Anushka Sharma has put Rs.43 lakh in the company, the filing showed. Paper.vc is a platform which tracks private equity investments.” EconomicTimes’ report read. The couple now holds 0.25 percent of the shares in the company.
Started by Kamesh Goyal and backed by Canada-based Fairfax Group, Digit Insurance is a new-age general insurance company. In January, Digit Insurance announced that it received approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) to raise $84 million from three growth equity investors — A91 Partners, Faering Capital and TVS Capital.
