With their presence being first felt in 2017, NFTs have slowly and steadily gained traction, the world over. The year 2021 saw a humongous rise in NFTs’ popularity, and since then, there hasn’t been any looking back.

This NFT marketplace enables creators to present their work in digital forms, that can be bought by investors or buyers in the form of jpegs and are deemed to be an asset.

India too is home to many creators who are taking the NFT market by storm. Let’s take a look at the top NFT artists in the country.

1. Amrit Pal Singh

Amrit Pal Singh worked as a product and brand designer before he switched to full-time 3D illustration. He has his own design and publishing agency in New Delhi called ‘Mister Bumbles’ that develops animation pieces, games, and mobile apps, and boasts a clientele comprising of Google, Snapchat and Netflix.

This NFT artist is well-known for creating toy faces and toy room NFTs. He made over 1 million dollars in nine months through his creations in the NFT market, in the early NFT boom in India.

2. Prasad Bhat

Touted to be the best graphic artist in India, this NFT artist is known for his unique vector portraits and caricatures.

He owns Graphicurry, an independent artist firm store in Bengaluru. Prasad entered the NFT market in 2021, and within the first month, sold 18 NFTs at an average price of
0.77 ETH each.

His creations have been featured on Reddit, GQ, Bored Panda and many more. Prasad has worked with Disney, Prime, Hotstar, and Netflix.

3. Khyati Trehan

Khyati is an independent graphic designer and 3D visual artist, who has worked with the likes of Oscars, Adobe, Apple, and Instagram.

Khyati’s work is best described as exuberant and emotive. She has many accolades to her credit, being Print Magazine’s 15 New Visual Artists Under 30, ADC young guns 19 and Forbes’ 30 Under 30.

4. Laya Mathikshara

15-year-old Laya, the youngest NFT artist in the country draws inspiration from experiences at school, within her family and friends, and the world in general. For example, a geography chapter talking about the river Amazon inspired her creation, Breathe In -Breathe Out.

5. Sneha Chakraborthy

At an exhibition called Embers, Sneha created 11 paintings out of which 8 were of women she met while traveling, a collaboration between India’s leading NFT platform WazirX, the gallery, and her. It was a first-of-its-kind exhibition, with curators adding an AR layer to it.

The mural artist uses traditional motifs, images of women, and nomadic themes as her NFT muse.

6. Siraj Hassan

A minimalism-loving 3D artist, Siraj Hassan created a stir in the digital world with his ‘Caged NFT’ collection, which was created during the lockdown.

The collection was inspired by loneliness and mental health and his fascination with glass and snow globes is apparent.
