Aman Gupta co-founded boAt, a fashionable consumer electronics company in 2016 with his business partner, Sameer Mehta. boAt offers products like earphones, headphones stereos, travel chargers, and premium rugged cables.

While the brand has enjoyed a very strong position in the market since its launch, Aman Gupta became popular after his latest stint as one of the judges in Shark Tank India. His humorous side and insights into investment and business development have made him a very prominent name in every Indian household.

Early Life

Born in 1982 in Delhi, Aman completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. He completed a bachelor’s in commerce from Delhi University. To add to his educational achievements he is also a chartered accountant. Aman studied at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India from 1999 to 2000.

He then did his M.B.A from the Indian school of business and also pursued his second MBS from Kellogg graduate school of management.

After finishing his studies, Gupta worked as an assistant manager at Citi Bank for two years. He even worked for audio product giant Harman international as its India sales director.

In 2005, he launched Advanced Telemedia Pvt Ltd. which marked as a turning point in his career. At Advanced Telemedia, he helped launch several global brands such as Beats Audio, Sennheiser, Telex, and others in the Indian market.

boAt Was Launched

After giving in his full potential in the entrepreneurial sector, Aman decided to launch boAt with Sameer Mehta in 2016. Initially, the company sold earphones, headphones, speakers, travel chargers, and premium rugged cabals. Within the first two years, they marked Rs 100 crores business in sales within the country.

The product that shot up boAt’s popularity was their Apple charging cable and charger. Since the original wire had a lot of complaints of frequent wear and tear, boAt saw the opportunity and marketed their wire as an ‘indestructible’ one.
