Indian executives are achieving so much with their sheer talent and hard work. From founding startups that have become unicorns in less than a year, to being appointed as the heads of some of the biggest companies globally, Indians have been rooting for the stars.

Parag Agarwal’s recent appointment as Twitter’s CEO has all Indians gushing with pride.

A good educational background does form an important base for anyone to ensure their success in the corporate world. Let’s take a look at the educational backgrounds of some of the most successful executives in the world.

Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai is the chief executive officer of Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary Google. Born in Madras, India, Pichai earned his degree from IIT Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering. He holds an M.S. from Stanford University in materials science and engineering, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Satya Nadella

Satya Nadella is the executive chairman and CEO of Microsoft. Nadella received a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka in 1988. He then did his M.S. in computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, receiving his degree in 1990. In 1997, he got his MBA degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Arvind Krishna

Arvind Krishna is the Chairman and CEO of IBM. Krishna did his BTech in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1985. After moving to the United States, he earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1991.

Parag Agrawal

Parag Agrawal is the newly appointed CEO of Twitter. Parag had joined Twitter as a software engineer in 2011 and became the chief technology officer in 2017. He got his B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2005 and later moved to the US to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford University under the guidance of Jennifer Widom.

Ajaypal Singh Banga

Ajaypal Singh Banga is currently executive chairman of Mastercard, having previously served as president and chief executive officer of the company. Banga graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He then pursued his PGP in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
