Indian e-commerce industry is at its peak as customers are happy shopping on digital screens without going out from their places. ALong with so many benefits, one thing that goes negative with online shopping is the number of counterfeits buyers receive. Under Brand Shield, there will be an online, triple-check point process for brands to report any violation of their rights in terms of trademark, copyright, patent or concerns related to design. Brands can list issues related to unethical use of logos, brand images, design features and packaging by sellers listed on Snapdeal’s platform. Any sellers found in violation will get penalised according to the terms of agreements with the sellers.

Snapdeal will review every report of IP infringement submitted through Brand Shield too minimize the selling of fake products. After verification of the information provided by the brand, Snapdeal will take down the listing within one business day. Snapdeal will also look to remove products in compliance with any directions or orders passed by the courts and other relevant authorities, the statement said.

“The issue of unscrupulous sellers misusing online marketplaces to sell fake goods is a global problem. Brand Shield is part of our ongoing initiatives to collaborate with brands owners to combat counterfeits and infringement offences,” a Snapdeal spokesperson said.

Most e-commerce platforms work as an intermediary between buyers & sellers and it becomes a responsibility of these companies to assure delivery of original products. Customers buy online because they trust these platforms and failing to provide quality can lead to a huge business loss which Snapdeal has been experiencing in recent times.
