The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked the food industry to fully comply with its regulations, strengthen quality assurance systems, adopt digital traceability, and communicate transparently with consumers amid rising complaints on social media platforms.
As per media reports, the food regulator has also said it will adopt a strong digital traceability system to help address foodborne illness outbreaks. The move has come amid increased scrutiny of food safety and consumer concerns.
In the last few months, the FSSAI has issued notices to a large number of food business operators (FBOs), including e-commerce companies, over consumer complaints related to product quality. The regulator has also acted against energy drink makers and alcoholic beverage manufacturers over alleged misleading claims and labelling.
