The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has constituted a high-level committee to examine the content of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Satluj, days after the film was taken down from streaming platform ZEE5 in India following government intervention over security concerns.
According to media reports, the ministry has referred the matter to an Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) constituted under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The committee has been tasked with reviewing the film’s content and recommending the appropriate course of action after examining whether it complies with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.

Originally titled Punjab 95, the film was released on ZEE5 under the title Satluj last week before being removed from the platform within two days. The government has maintained that the takedown followed concerns related to national security and regulatory compliance.
The Centre has also stated that the film was made available on the streaming platform before the certification process had been completed. Following communication from the government, ZEE5 withdrew the title from its India catalogue.
Reports also suggest that the newly formed panel will now assess the film’s content before advising the ministry on any further action under the IT Rules. The move marks the latest development in the controversy surrounding Satluj, which has drawn significant public and industry attention following its brief release and subsequent removal from the platform.
