YAAP has appointed Sambit Mohanty as Group Chief Creative Officer, adding the creative industry veteran to its senior leadership team as the company has continued to expand its operations across India and international markets.
In his new role, Mohanty has been tasked with leading creative vision and excellence across the YAAP network. He has been responsible for integrating brand storytelling, social media, content, influencer marketing, technology and AI-driven creative capabilities into a unified offering for clients.
Mohanty has brought over two decades of experience across agency networks including JWT, DDB, Bates, Elephant Design and McCann Worldgroup. During his career, he has worked on campaigns that have received recognition at Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, D&AD, One Show, Spikes Asia, Effies, Kyoorius and Abbys.
Among his notable campaigns, ‘Shagun Ka Lifafa’ for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank has won a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions, a Grand Clio, multiple D&AD Pencils, APAC Effies and the Jay Chiat Award. His work on the Dabba Savings Account for ESAF Bank has also received recognition at Cannes Lions, D&AD and the Global Grand Effies.
The appointment has come following YAAP’s public listing and its expansion across India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The company has also expanded its scale and capabilities through the acquisition of GoZoop.
YAAP has operated across digital marketing, content, influencer marketing, social media, technology and brand strategy. The company has maintained a presence through eight offices across India, the UAE and Singapore, with a team of more than 400 professionals.
Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Atul Hegde, Founder of YAAP, said, “The next decade of marketing will not be won by media alone, technology alone or creativity alone. It will be won by organizations that can bring all three together. Sambit is one of the most respected creative leaders in the industry and his appointment reflects the kind of company we are building. As YAAP enters its next phase of growth, we are investing in world-class talent, future-ready capabilities and a culture that challenges convention. We believe India can create globally influential marketing companies, and Sambit will play a pivotal role in helping us realize that ambition.”
Speaking on his appointment, Sambit Mohanty said, “The traditional boundaries between advertising, content, social media, creators and technology no longer exist. The future belongs to integrated ideas that can move seamlessly across platforms and cultures. And as Jiddu Krishnamurti famously said, ‘The future is now.’ YAAP has built a strong foundation with an entrepreneurial mindset, digital DNA and an appetite for disruption. That combination is incredibly exciting, and I look forward to helping shape the next chapter of growth while creating work that drives both cultural impact and business results.”
