Karnataka Bank has appointed Biji Sreekrishnavilas Sankaranarayanan as an Additional Director and Executive Director of the bank for a three-year term, effective from the date of taking charge, subject to shareholder approval.
The appointment was approved by the bank’s board at its meeting held on May 19, 2026, following clearance from the Reserve Bank of India, which conveyed its approval on May 13, 2026.
Sankaranarayanan will serve as a Whole Time Director and Key Managerial Personnel at the bank. She brings more than 31 years of banking experience spanning corporate banking, retail and branch banking, liabilities, secured assets, digital transformation and operational modernisation.
She has led large-scale banking networks, strengthened risk and compliance frameworks, improved asset quality and driven digital transformation initiatives during her career. The filing also highlighted her experience in customer acquisition, profitability enhancement and leadership development.
Sankaranarayanan is a postgraduate in Mathematics, holds an MBA in HR and has completed a Professional Certification in Management of Social Initiatives from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
