The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has appointed Prasoon Joshi as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster.
Joshi has been recognised for his work across literature, advertising, cinema, and public communication. His contributions have included film lyrics, advertising campaigns, and storytelling across formats, shaping contemporary media narratives in India.
Before this appointment, he served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification since August 2017, where he has worked on film certification processes and industry engagement. He has also held leadership roles as CEO of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific. In addition, he has been a Trustee at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts since 2016.
His appointment has come at a time when public broadcasting has been navigating technological shifts and changing audience consumption patterns. His experience in creative industries and communication is expected to shape the organisation’s direction.
