Marico Acquires 60% Stake In Functional Wellness Brand Cosmix

Marico has signed definitive agreements to acquire a 60% stake in digital-first functional wellness brand Cosmix at an equity valuation of about Rs 375 crore, with the founders retaining the remaining stake and continuing to lead the business.

Marico Acquires 60% Stake In Functional Wellness Brand Cosmix

Marico has announced that it has signed definitive agreements to acquire a 60%  stake in Cosmix Wellness Private Limited, which owns Cosmix, a digital-first functional wellness brand, at an equity valuation of about Rs 375 crore. The transaction will see Marico acquire a majority stake, while the founders will retain the balance shareholding and continue to lead the company.

Cosmix offers a range of plant-based protein powders, fermented yeast protein powders and functional superfood blends, and has recently expanded into functional foods such as plant-protein pancake mixes and plant-protein bars. The company is bootstrapped and has been profitable since inception, scaling to around Rs 100 crore in annual recurring revenue over the last six months, with a high-teen EBITDA margin profile.

Founded in 2019 by Vibha Harish and Soorya Jagadish, Cosmix focuses on vegan and gut-friendly formulations, with an emphasis on sustainable sourcing and a root-cause approach to wellness. The brand has built a strong direct-to-consumer presence, supported by repeat purchase rates, customer lifetime value and brand recall metrics. It also holds the top bestseller position in the plant-protein category across major e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms.

Going forward, Cosmix plans to drive profitable growth while expanding into adjacent wellness and nutraceutical categories through new product launches, strengthening its multi-channel distribution and continuing to build a premium brand focused on innovation and differentiation.
