Girish Mathrubootham has announced that he will step down as Executive Chairman of Freshworks, effective December 1, 2025. His decision marks the close of a 15-year journey that began in Chennai in 2010 and grew into a Nasdaq-listed global SaaS success story. He founded Freshworks in October 2010 and has served as Executive Chairman and Founder for 15 years.
He announced this move via a LinkedIn post
Prior to Freshworks, he spent over five years at Zoho Corporation. He was Vice President of Product Management from December 2007 to October 2010 and Director of Product Management from October 2005 to December 2007.
Earlier, at AdventNet, he was Product Manager from June 2002 to September 2005 and Lead Engineer – PreSales Customer Support from August 2001 to June 2002.
He started his career in engineering roles. He was Senior Software Engineer at eFORCE from July 2000 to July 2001 and Member Technical Staff at HCL Cisco ODC from February 1999 to April 2000.
Freshworks has confirmed through its LinkedIn post that Roxanne Austin, the company’s Lead Independent Director, will assume the role of Chair of the Board following Mathrubootham’s exit.
