July 2025 has emerged as the strongest month at the Indian box office so far this year, according to Ormax Media’s latest edition of The India Box Office Report. Films released in July 2025 have grossed Rs 1,430 crore at the domestic box office, making it the highest-grossing month of 2025.
The surge was driven primarily by Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha, who together contributed over 45% of the month’s total collections.
As per the report, the cumulative box office for films released between January and July 2025 now stands at Rs 7,175 crore, marking a 22% increase over the same period in 2024. Based on current trends, 2025 has a strong chance of grossing over Rs 12,000 crore, putting the year in contention to become the best-ever at the Indian box office, surpassing the record of Rs 12,226 crore set in 2023.
Saiyaara has emerged as the top film of July 2025, grossing Rs 392 crore at the domestic box office, making it the second-highest grossing film of the year so far behind Chhaava. Mahavatar Narsimha follows with Rs 259 crore in collections, with the Hindi version contributing 75% of its total domestic earnings.
Hollywood films continued their strong run in July, with Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman & The Fantastic Four: The First Steps contributing Rs 217 crore to the month’s total. Hollywood’s share of the domestic box office has risen from 10% for January to June to 12% for January to July, putting it on par with 2022 and higher than 2023 and 2024.
The top grossing films of July 2025 include Saiyaara, Mahavatar Narsimha, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Superman & The Fantastic Four: The First Steps. Hindi films dominate the list, while multi-lingual and Hollywood releases also feature, highlighting the diversity of theatrical success, the report highlighted.
Language-wise, Hindi films accounted for the largest share. The share of Kannada films increased from under 1% in June to over 2% in July, driven by the success of Su From So, while Malayalam titles’ share dropped from 10% in June to 8% in July.
