Why Does A Tetra Pack Have Rectangular Flaps On Sides

| Published on January 1, 2022

Juices in paper boxes are available the world over. They are popular, easy to carry and look attractive too. A lot of thought goes into packaging a product and the humble juice tetrapacks are no exception.

Generally, the juices available in rectangular vertical shaped boxes or cartons are designed to be consumed on the go. But then, have you noticed the small triangular shaped flaps on the side? They too serve a purpose.

While using a juice box, one is to open the flaps on the sides. They are meant to avoid spillage. It is quite common for users, especially kids to spill their drink. Either by squeezing the box or simply not paying attention while drinking. This causes the juice to squirt, adding to laundry, sometimes the stains stubborn and difficult to get rid of.

How to use the box

Lift both the flaps on the side. It will now look like the wings of a bird. The box needs to be held by the wings and the juice is to be consumed.

This life and laundry saving hack can help you on multiple occasions. Do try teaching this to kids and those prone to spilling, and things will be much better.
