VML’s CCO Mukund Olety To Move Within WPP Network As Part Of Its Creative Leadership

After a four-year stint as Chief Creative Officer at VML India, marked by award-winning work and a historic Cannes Lions APAC ranking, Olety has transitioned to a creative role within WPP’s global network.

Mukund Olety is transitioning within the WPP network to join the creative leadership. He was working as Chief Creative Officer at VML, from May 2021 to June 2025, where he helped in strengthening the agency’s creative presence both in India and across the region.

In a LinkedIn post, Olety shared, “My journey at VML, India has been nothing short of incredible- starting with a Cannes Lion Grand Prix and filled with amazing projects and people along the way. To the rockstar team at VML, India, thank you for your trust, support, and best wishes. I am excited for a few upcoming projects and can’t wait to see what you achieve next under the leadership of Kalpesh Patankar. A special shoutout to Babita Baruah, Paul Nagy, and everyone who made this journey so memorable.”

Olety has served as Group Creative Director at BBDO Worldwide from August 2016 to April 2021. Before that, he worked as a Freelance Creative Director with Ogilvy and Service Plan, from January 2016 to August 2016, working across a range of brands and campaigns. Before that, he was an Associate Creative Director at Leo Burnett from March 2012 to October 2015, where he helped in shaping strategic and award-winning creative work. He held the position of Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather, from November 2009 to February 2012, followed by a similar role at JWT from October 2007 to November 2009.

His earlier experience includes working as a Creative at DDB Mudra Group between June 2005 and October 2007. He has built a strong foundation in storytelling and brand communication.
