Visa has appointed Sujai Raina as the Country Manager for India. In his new role, he will be responsible for the India business, leading and executing Visa’s strategic initiatives for the market, and partnering with clients and the payments ecosystem.

Visa Appoints Sujai Raina As Country Manager For India

Sujai Raina has been appointed as the Country Manager for India. In his new role, he will be responsible for the India business, leading and executing Visa’s strategic initiatives for the market, and partnering with clients and the payments ecosystem.

In addition to his responsibilities as Country Manager, he will continue to lead business development for Visa in India.

As per the company, he has played an instrumental role in driving Visa’s sales strategy in the country and ensuring performance and growth for Visa and its clients in India.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Ghosh will be continuing in his role as the Group Country Manager for India and South Asia. He will oversee operations in India and other markets in the subcontinent, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

Raina joined the company in 2020 and previously served as Vice President and Head of Business Development, India. Before he joined Visa, he worked at the Commercial Bank of Dubai for almost three years.

Prior to that, he was with Mashreq Bank for nearly five years. During that time, he served in different roles. He joined the company in February 2013 as Group Product Manager – Cobranded Cards and was elevated to Business Manager – Cards Portfolio, and Co-branded Cards in May 2014.

Earlier, from November 2010 to February 2013, he was the Head – Strategy, Retention, Channel Development and Training at AEGON Religare Life Insurance Company. He was associated with HDFC Bank for more than three years, where he joined as Vice President and Product Head, Unsecured Lending, and was elevated to Senior Vice President and Business Manager – Unsecured Lending, in June 2008.

From May 2005 to April 2007, he served as Vice President – Liabilities and Wealth Management at Citibank N.A. Before that, he was the Area Director – Personal Loans from May 2002 to April 2005.

As for Ghosh, who will be continuing his role as the Group Country Manager for India and South Asia.
Before joining Visa in March 2022, he was the Partner and Leader – Financial Services Consulting at EY. Earlier, he was the Managing Director & Chief Executive, Country Manager at AXA for over six years.

In the past, he served as Managing Director, Commercial Banking Head – APAC at ANZ, Executive Vice President, Commercial Banking Head – Asia at Royal Bank of Scotland, Managing Director, Head India, Global Commercial Bank at Citi, Category Head- Marketing South Asia at PepsiCo, and International Sales & Marketing Manager at COATS (Coats Viyella).
