Unique Marketing Campaigns That Ensured Success Of Movies

The movie industry has always been the lead source of entertainment for us all. With the introduction of many ott platforms, the craze for a movie release in theatres is still strong as ever.

To ensure that the theatre halls are full with viewers, the makers invest a lot on their pre-release marketing campaigns. These campaigns contribute hugely on the success of a film.

Here are some of the unique marketing campaigns that ensured the success of the movies in the end.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

The movie was released at a time when the internet channel was not there to exploit. Though the movie did not do that well at the box office, the makers took the marketing campaign to the next level. In fact, its marketing was considered the greatest marketing campaign ever.

The makers wanted to create uncertainty among the public. The team was spreading rumors about the student filmmakers. They passed out missing person leaflets, shared photos from the police reports, and even went as far as having fake news stories written up by local papers about the missing persons and their whereabouts.

Paranormal Activity

Tomato Meter: 83%

Paranormal Activity was one of the most profitable movies ever made. The move had a production cost of $15,000 but made over $193 million at the box office. The marketing technique opted by the makers was very creative at that time. The trailer launch captured the reaction of the viewers in the theatre halls and it was bound to be a success ever since.

Tomato Meter: 91%

This movie / documentary movie is one of the greatests movies ever made. The story line, the acting, the comic timing, everything was a breath of fresh air in the industry.

Cloverfield (2008)

Tomato Meter: 78%

Cloverfiled was one of the most anticipated movies of all times. The trailer launch did not give away much, hence making the movie more intriguing.

The Social Network (2010)

Tomato Meter: 78%

The Social Network created a buzz right from its trailer release. While the trailer gave in so much about what the movie was about, people were really excited to see how Facebook really began and what went through in the making of Mark Zuckerberg such a success.

Deadpool (2016)

Tomato Meter: 85%

Deadpool‘s marketing is undoubtedly one of the most interesting marketing techniques ever adopted. Featuring , Ryan Reynolds, the makers have been making sure that they use his wit as much as possible in movie marketing and promotion.

From his fun banter with Hugh Jackman, to Reynolds interviews and online presence, the makers were taking the comedy meter up a knotch that even had the viewers fixated on the release date.
