Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has taken another step toward sustainability with the launch of its latest Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Guwahati. Named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect,’ this state-of-the-art facility can dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually using environmentally conscious processes.
Driving Sustainability in Assam
This facility, operated in partnership with Axom Platinum Scrappers, is the first of its kind in Northeast India and marks Tata Motors’ seventh RVSF across the country, following Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, and Pune. Designed to scrap both passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands, the Guwahati RVSF aligns with India’s push for sustainable vehicle disposal.
The grand inauguration was attended by key dignitaries, including Shri Jogen Mohan, Minister of Hill Areas Development, Transport, and Co-operation, and Shri Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Irrigation, alongside Tata Motors’ Executive Director, Mr. Girish Wagh, and representatives from Axom Automobiles.
A Step Toward a Greener Assam
Shri Jogen Mohan highlighted the facility’s role in creating employment opportunities and boosting Assam’s economic growth while ensuring responsible disposal of end-of-life vehicles to reduce carbon emissions. Shri Ashok Singhal emphasized its contribution to fostering a sustainable vehicle disposal ecosystem that benefits both the environment and the people of Assam.
Pioneering Responsible Vehicle Scrapping
Tata Motors’ Executive Director, Mr. Girish Wagh, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to a circular economy. With seven RVSFs now operational, Tata Motors has the capability to dismantle over 100,000 vehicles annually, reinforcing its leadership in responsible vehicle recycling. He acknowledged the state government and local authorities for their support in making this initiative a reality.
