In breaking news, one of Swiggy‘s co-founder Rahul Jaimini has quit the company to join a career accelerator startup called Pesto Tech. Initially founded as a consultant firm to assist US-based startups, Pesto is now offering training programs to engineers in India and abroad to kickstart their careers and gain global recognition with great salary packages.
How Was Swiggy Founded?
Back in 2014, Jaimini along with Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy co-founded the large food delivery chain. Jaimini is an IIT Kharagpur graduate and served as the CTO of Swiggy for six years. He also worked in Myntra before starting Swiggy.
Sriharsha Majety, the CEO of Swiggy said in an interview that Jaimini was a swell partner. Jaimini always aimed for the stars and pursued the innovation of futuristic technology. Majety also has his startup called Bundl, and had pitched his idea to Jaimini but realised a year later that he texted the wrong Jaimini! They definitely had a fun start.
Soon, the delivery chain Swiggy was launched. Jaimini recalls his last few years in Swiggy saying how their aim was to reach the top and today Swiggy is one of the most popular food delivery services available, competing against Zomato. As he moves onto other opportunities, he still cheers on for his team members at Swiggy.
Jaimini will still have a seat at the board of members at Swiggy. Till date, the company has managed to raise $156 million. The company is hit by the coronavirus pandemic and has laid off several of its employees. A number of small and big restaurants are tied up with this delivery giant and will cater to the mass amidst the coronavirus lockdown.
Let’s see how many other tie-ups are established by Swiggy in the near future.
