Samsung To Finally Launch Its Foldable Phone By Year End

Samsung’s has been working on a foldable mobile phone since long and way back in 2012, it had revealed its first prototype. In fact, the company also unveiled a concept ad in 2014, of a mobile phone that folded to wallet size, but despite being in news for so long, no confirmations of its launch were shared by the company.

What Samsung Revealed

But just recently Samsung’s mobile chief DJ Koh has confirmed the launch of a foldable phone towards the end of the year. The phone is most likely to show up in the Samsung’s developer conference, which is to happen in November.

While Koh did not reveal much detail about the phone, but he did say at the IFA electronics show that took place in Belin last week, “You can use most of the uses … on foldable status. But when you need to browse or see something, then you may need to unfold it. But even unfolded, what kind of benefit does that give compared to the tablet? If the unfolded experience is the same as the tablet, why would they (consumers) buy it?”

He did mention that developing such a phone has not been an easy task and that it way it has taken such a long time. But they have done enough research to conclude that there is definitely a market for such a phone.

It is rumored to be one of the most expensive phones by Samsung to date with an expected price of $ 1500.
The phone is likely to be called Samsung X, while the codename of the same is ‘winner’. It is expected to have a 7″ screen which can be folded into half and rest it would be backed by most of the top end features that today Samsung phones have.
