De-influencer Revant Himatsingka, also known as FoodPharmer, has taken a step against adulteration in packaged foods with the launch of an anthem, “Label Padhega India”.
The “Label Padhega India” initiative aims to raise awareness about the “hidden” dangers lurking behind the nutritional labels of packaged foods, highlighting the poor effects of preservatives and unhealthy additives on consumers’ health.
Recently, there have been controversies around certain food products and their ingredients including the masala-cancer controversy, baby-milk sugar, protein-powder controversy, and a few health drinks being delisted as health drinks.
A few personalities and influencers including, Dinesh Karthik, Abhinav Bindra, Flying Beast, Archana Puran Singh, Terence Lewis, Ankita Bainyanpuria, Ankur Warikoo, Tech Burner, Thugesh, Saurav Joshi, Abhi and Niyu, Luke Coutinho, and many more, are also supporting Himatsingka in his mission.
In the anthem, the FoodPharmer is addressing, “You are what you eat” which encapsulates the core message of the initiative, emphasising the need for transparency and accountability in the food industry.
“I have initiated a social media challenge to my audience to tag three individuals and urge them to read the nutritional labels of packaged foods. If we all start reading labels, companies will not be able to falsely market themselves,” he said.
Additionally, he also mentioned on his Instagram handle, “Label Padhega India is a health movement to fight against all the food scandals happening in India. Every week we hear of a new food issue such as the baby formula, children’s health drink, Indian chips having palm oil and the masala-cancer issue. If majority of us started reading labels, companies will be forced to stop false marketing and start giving us better quality food. Let us all unite and transform India from the Diabetes Capital of the world to the Health Capital of the World.”
