Move ahead Biryanis and Burgers! It’s time for the world-famous street snack from aamchi Mumbai. A restaurant by the name O’Pao in the Al Karama area of Dubai is serving 22 carat gold vadapav to its customers. A combination of Indian and international ingredients, this dish consists of the humble vada and bread along with accompaniments. The vada has cheese and imported French truffle butter, along with a mint mayonnaise dip that tops the bread. The main attraction, the vada is wrapped in edible 22-carat gold sheets that are imported from France.
Equal importance is given to its presentation. Served in a wooden box lit with a nitrogen base and accompanied with sweet potato fries and a mint lemonade cooler, this dish costs a whopping 99 Dirhams which approximates to Rs 2000/-. One could eat at least a 100 vadapavs in India for that amount.
The restaurant in question is famous for serving Indian sliders and this gold vadapav is available only for the dine-in option. Twitter is abuzz with tweets and hilarious reactions to the launch of this Indian snack. A video shared by Masrat Daud has had over 20 thousand. Watch this video here.

However, a few netizens are not too happy with this concept.
Majority humans starve. Elites literally eat 24k gold. Crazy. One has to be quite insensitive and hard-hearted to eat such things.

Gold sheets are the stupidest imaginable way to increase the cost of a dish and it should be illegal

Dubai is known for its obsession with all thing’s gold. With 24-karat Gold burgers at Hard Rock café and Maison Rouge to an AED1000 a plate Biryani at Bombay Borough, the city has carved a niche for itself on the global food circuit.
