With Lok Sabha elections just around the corner, a shop in Gujarat is supporting Narendra Modi in a rather unusual way. This shop has launched something called ‘Modi Saree’, which has taken over the city, by a storm and many women are seen running towards the shop to buy these Modi Sarees. So don’t be surprised if you see numerous women in Gujarat drapped in these Modi Sarees.
According to the shop owner Ronak Shah, the newly launched collection, which is digitally printed, has created quite a stir. “We have launched a saree of Modiji. The saree has become a favorite among women. We have made about three to four varieties of PM Modi’s saree, which we are selling currently. In the coming days, we are planning to launch sarees of other politicians and leaders.”
The designs range from a backdrop of flowers with Modi in the front-ground and also a one that shows PM Modi’s face alongside the demonetized Rs 1000 currency note.
Women are finding the saree a matter of pride and are buying the sarees in full swing. This is not the first time that Modi Ji has made something fashion worthy. Modi Jackets, Modi Vests, Modi Kurtas have all been a rage in the past. Also using Modi’s face on other elements like gold and silver bars, or even invitation cards is a common scenario and more especially in the state of Gujarat.
Well again the question is that is this a genuine fan following or a well-planned marketing strategy for the elections, whatever it may be, the women definitely seem to enjoy the new fashion.
