Sheeladitya Mohanty has joined OpenAI as Marketing Lead for India, a role he took up in August 2025. He will be responsible for driving education, adoption, and the responsible use of OpenAI’s products across key audiences in India.
He announced this appointment via LinkedIn update.
Mohanty joins from Meta, where he held multiple leadership roles. Most recently, he was Marketing Lead, Meta AI and Facebook – APAC from September 2024 to August 2025. Before that, he served as Marketing Lead for Facebook app, APAC from January 2024 to April 2025 and Marketing Manager – International Marketing at Meta India from October 2021 to December 2023.
He earlier drove Facebook’s consumer marketing agenda as Consumer Marketing Manager, India from March 2019 to October 2021, and prior to that was part of the Regional Marketing, India & South Asia from September 2017 to March 2019 and Platform Marketing Lead, India from May 2016 to September 2017 teams.
Before Meta, Mohanty spent over three years at Microsoft in multiple marketing roles, including Business Evangelist / Partner Manager from July 2015 to April 2016, Apps Marketing Manager from January 2014 to June 2015, and Marketing Manager from January 2013 to December 2013.
He began his career at Nokia India, where he worked for over three years across sales leadership roles. He was Sales Manager from January 2012 to December 2012, Area Sales Manager from July 2010 to January 2012.
