Maushumi Chakravarty, Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer, has taken charge of Director General (DG) of Akashvani News.

She has assumed the role following the superannuation of Vasudha Gupta as Principal DG.

Chakravarty, a 1991 batch IIS officer, has vast experience working in the I&B Ministry’s media organisations, including the Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication.

Throughout her career spanning over three decades, she has also served on deputation basis in the National Human Rights Commission and as P.S. to Cabinet Minister.
