Beauty influencers on social media have become one of the most prominent tools of marketing for the global beauty industry. While many influencers have become the face of a leading cosmetics brand, there have been many who started their own brand and are now worth billions.

Li Jiaqi, also known as ‘Lipstick Brother’, is termed as the biggest male beauty influencer in China. The Annual Shopping Festival conducted by Alibaba group began in China recently and it is safe to say that it has been a success so far.

Li Jiaqi has sold $1.7 billion worth of goods in just one day of the shopping festival. Generally, Alibaba does not typically release sales numbers, but CED cited data from third-party data analysis company Hongren Dianji.

According to a Bloomberg report, Li pre-sold 12 billion yuan in products ranging from Shiseido lotions to Apple AirPods. However, this is not the first time that Li has worked his magic and influenced his followers.

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) says that Li, who is a millionaire, once sold 15,000 lipsticks in just five minutes.

Li can not only sell lipsticks like a pro but has a talent at applying them, too. In 2019, Li set a Guinness record for “the most lipstick applications to models in 30 seconds”. As per the report in SCMP, He achieved this by applying lipstick on four different models in just 30 seconds.

Talking about his live streams Li expressed that it is not an easy job. He said that there are times when he has to talk for a long without taking breaks. The longest broadcast he has done was 48 hours long.

Things were not so forthcoming for Li, he had a very humble beginning. He started as a behind-the-counter product salesman at a beauty store in a small city in China. It took him just a couple of years to gain stardom through his live stream.
