An American multinational company has fired one of its employees due to his anti-Kashmiri tweets. Other social media sites have also banned his account. Ashish Kaul, a Kashmiri Pandit was spreading hate on Twitter and one of his tweets read: “I love when Kashmiri Muslim women cry on roads-yeh masoom tha, begunah tha! Amarnath Cha thuss ya Aazadi- the proof is in the casualty chart of last 1 year, sorry 28 years! We are killing, maiming and raping you at will! Ha Haaa Cry aloud Aazadi.”
Another tweet that shows his anger towards the muslim community read “Kill the bastards economically and let them sell their daughters, wives in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai to feed themselves!”
Kaul was working as a senior HR professional in a US-based company named Development Dimensions International (DDI). These tweets were socially provoking hate and Twitter users were quick to inform the company in which Kaul used to work.
After knowing about these tweets, DDI immediately reacted to this and issued a statement in which the suspension was declared clearly. Here are some of the lines from this statement:- “On Friday, May 11, DDI was alerted to the fact that an employee who worked as a consultant in India had made statements on social media that condoned violence against members of the community in the Kashmir region. We were shocked and saddened by the nature of these posts, which are in direct violation of our mission and values. As soon as we learned about the social media posts, we immediately suspended the employee and launched an investigation to determine the full scope of the issue. As of May 12, we have accepted the individual’s resignation,”
Jammu & Kashmir police had lodged an FIR against Ashish on Saturday for these abusive tweets. Kaul himself deleted the tweets when he was informed about the FIR. Social media platforms are very beneficial if we use them for right purposes, misuse of the same can lead to huge problems and one should be careful about posting anything against religion, government or any individual.
