IKEA Hires Anyone Wearing Yellow T-Shirt To Be ‘Co-Worker For The Day’ For Sale Season

| Published on February 16, 2022

Dubai sale season can get out of hand in a very short time. The deals are so good that people flood the malls and outlets to get their favorite items at heavy discounts. However, these sales can turn out to be a nightmare for under-manned outlets.

Al-Futtaim IKEA’s tackled this problem like a pro in a recent sale when their footfall increased by 600%. The IKEA in Al-Futtaim, asked every customer who came wearing a yellow t-shirt during the busy sale season, to become the ‘co-worker for the day.’

Yellow is the color IKEA employees wear and during a regular day if you go wearing a similar shirt it can lead to an awkward encounter when people mistake you as one of the staff.

However, IKEA saw a way through this and came up with an idea that would not only help the brand bet help its customers as well.

The newly appointed employees had the task to help other shoppers. This became easier thanks to the newly updated IKEA app. Through the app, the customers could simply take a picture or scan a barcode for product information. Therefore, they did not need any extensive training before beginning their employment for the day.

Vinod Jayan, Managing Director at IKEA UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Egypt spoke in detail about the successful campaign. He said that the company was delighted to give its customers the chance to join the IKEA co-worker’s family, even if only for the day.

They wanted to reward those who were brave enough to wear yellow and adorn the IKEA colors while also showing everyone just how versatile and adept the IKEA app is at helping customers find their way around the store.

This campaign not only helped IKEA to assist its customers more efficiently but also spread awareness of the benefits of downloading the IKEA app.
