These days companies are trying new ways to attract customers. Sometimes, in doing so, they forget the fact that doing something out of the bix can go against the brand too. This exactly happened with popular clothing brand Forever 21 because of sending diet bars to customers who ordered plus-size products online.
On Twitter, customers are accusing the brand of ‘fat-shaming’ for sending diet bars to those who ordered a particular size of outfits from Forever 21. Here are some twitter posts proving the same:
1.
I went from a size 24 to 18, still a plus size girl, so I ordered jeans from @Forever21 Opened the package, when I looked inside I see this Atkins bar. What are you trying to Tell me Forever 21, I’m FAT, LOSE WEIGHT? do you give these to NON-PLUS SIZE WOMEN as well? pic.twitter.com/ds8kUTs7T7

got the same bar and I ordered accessories only. The second time I ordered my PLUS SIZE CLOTHES I GOT THE BAR AGAIN. Stop trying to make a thing over something that isn’t a thing. People need to stop finding things to be offended by. Stop reaching.

Even the company has clarified in a statement to that the diet bars were indeed included in all orders. “From time to time, Forever 21 surprises our customers with free test products from third parties in their e-commerce orders. The freebie items in question were included in all online orders, across all sizes and categories, for a limited time and have since been removed,” Forever 21 said in the statement.
