The fight between Apple and TRAI, the telecom regulatory authority has been going on for sometime now and is becoming a threat to iPhone’s market in India.

The issue has been because of an app that TRAI has created which is called DND, which seeks the call and message recorder of a user, Apple has been adamant in compromising on the privacy risk of their users and hence been denying to allow this app in the iOS App Store.
With the new regulatory policy, strong hints have been floated that if Apple doesn’t allow this app on their platform, TRAI may ask telecom giants like Vodafone, Airtel, and Jio to deregister iPhone from their networks.
The app is available on Google Store for Andriod users and has very loosely created guidelines for the data access of the users. The app isn’t very highly rated either. Whereas Apple has always been very careful about the data privacy of it’s users.
Apple is already working towards reducing spam calls and messages in their upgraded iOS 12 and basis this they might get exempted from the TRAI regulatory. Though both the parties basically want the same thing for the betterment of the consumers, by reducing spam calls and messages, they are both adamant on their own set of rules. TRAI is coming across as very stubborn and hinting strongly at the iPhone ban in India, as no telecom company will be able to provide even basic network to iPhone, forget 3G and 4G, unless Apple accepts to put their App. Apple on their other hand is being very protective about their user data and would rather want to tackle the issue with their own technology upgrade than through the TRAI app.
Well, the time will tell, who will win this battle, but we definitely don’t want to see Apple losing it.
