In the 2.17.40 version of the app for Apple iPhone, that is out in the App Store currently, WhatsApp will now test the in-app YouTube playback support as a hidden feature. According to popular web portal WABetaInfo, it’s not yet available in market because still the feature is in test phase. Once it’s successful it will be made available for the masses.
According to reports, WhatsApp will allow one to watch YouTube videos as a picture-in-picture mode. One can also pinch on the videos to resize or watch full screen. Also, you can browse through your messages inside chat as well, by hiding the video on the side. But once you change the chat you won’t be able to continue watching it.
Presently the feature is just available in ios phones and would take time before it’s available for both ios and android phones. If in this test phase they are not able to find any kind of error or bug problems then it would be soon available in market.
Meanwhile WhatsApp came with an update that allows to share file and documents of all formats. Along with that features like the option of swiping up from the in-app camera to see videos and images from the gallery, sending multiple pics as an album, and simpler text formatting.
