BARC Report Claims BJP Is Now The Top Advertiser On Indian Television Beating Amazon & Netflix

According to the latest report released by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), Indian political party Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) is the top brand to advertise on television right now.

Interestingly, BJP has beaten world famous brands including Netflix, Amazon and Trivago in this list. The report is based on data from 10th November 2018 to 16th November 2018. Vimal pan masala was at the top during last week.

BJP’s ad aired across all channels on television 22,099 times and second was Netflix with 12951 ads aired. Last week, BJP was on the second position.

None of the other national parties are in the list of top 10 advertisers.

“The election season has just begun. The real jump will come around general elections. During state election time, there are localised campaigns,” said Ashish Bhasin, chairman and CEO, South Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN).

Political parties hire large creative and media agencies to plan their campaigns during the general election while mostly working with smaller, local agencies for assembly polls, said advertising industry insiders.
