Ashish Sehgal is set to join Times Network as Chief Executive Officer, a source familiar with the development has told Marketing Mind. Sehgal, who stepped down from Zee Entertainment Enterprises in August 2025 after serving as Chief Growth Officer and leading the organisation’s advertising revenue function, is poised to take charge at the network amid an ongoing leadership transition.
Sehgal’s move to Times Network has come at a time when the broadcaster has been witnessing significant senior-level shifts. In August 2025, Chief Operating Officer Varun Kohli resigned, after which Rohit Gopakumar took interim charge of the broadcast business. Gopakumar, who joined the group as CEO of Worldwide Media in August 2023, has also been leading the Entertainment and Digital Business at The Times Group. Kohli’s departure has followed the exit of former Times Network CEO MK Anand in July 2024, marking the end of his decade-long tenure at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd.
Prior to this appointment, Sehgal has built a career of more than three decades across some of India’s biggest media companies. He has spent nearly 20 years at Zee Entertainment Enterprises, from January 2006 to August 2025, most recently holding the role of Chief Growth Officer for broadcast and digital. During this period, he has overseen revenue across the network’s domestic channels, digital platforms including ZEE5, its international operations, government partnerships and branded content verticals.
Between April 2016 and July 2018, he has served as Chief Operating Officer at Zee Unimedia. From October 2011 to April 2016, he has worked as Chief Sales Officer at ZEEL, leading network sales and contributing to the company’s growth strategy.
Before joining ZEE, Sehgal worked with Star India from August 2000 to January 2006 as National Head for Star Gold. Earlier, he worked at Buena Vista TV from April 1995.
He began his media career at Times Group from March 1994 to April 1995, where he contributed to the launch of the country’s first FM radio channel through concept-led selling.
