Who knew that the apple watch would soon become a hero for saving the lives of its users?
Recently, a woman who had no clue that she was having a heart attack was alerted by her Apple Watch that her heart rate was abnormal.
Diane Feenstra from Michigan was alerted by her apple watch of abnormally high heart rates when she called her husband and asked whether it was normal who then rushed her to the hospital.
“The day in question, April 22, I had 169 beats per minute heart rate even though the most vigorous exercise I had done was to walk up 12 steps. So I called my husband at work and said do you think this is concerning? And he said call your doctor,” she told WZZM 13, the American television station.
On reaching the hospital and getting an EKG done, they learnt that she was undergoing a heart attack. Her symptoms were quite ordinary, that of any everyday issue like indigestion, pain on her left hand and swelling on her left foot. All issues which she could explain. The biggest pain which was on her shoulder, she explained was probably because she had used the vacuum which could have resulted in the pain.
After multiple tests, they found out that she had a major blockage in the widow maker artery. She also had to get a stent procedure done in order to recover from the same.
Incidents like these have occurred before where the apple watch became the hero for saving lives. A Mike Yager from North Carolina also was saved owing to the Apple Watch’s fall detection feature which called 911 when it realised that he had fallen and was left unconscious.
In the world of technology, the benefits of the digitally advanced age are on occasion lost in translation, however, incidents like these definitely leave us wondering nevertheless.
