Amazon has elevated Madhavan Sekar to Head of Marketing at Amazon Pay. He was previously the Category Leader for UPI at Amazon Pay. Sekar announced his promotion in a LinkedIn post.
Sekar steps into this role after a journey across some of Indian consumer and retail businesses, bringing with him nearly two decades of brand marketing and commercial leadership experience.
Prior to this elevation, he had a brief but strategic stint as Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing at SAJ Food Products (Bisk Farm), where he was tasked with steering the transformation of the legacy FMCG brand into a modern food powerhouse with a global outlook.
Before that, Sekar worked at Reliance Retail, where he spent nearly five years, most recently as AVP and Head of Marketing and Alliances at AJIO Business. He played a pivotal role in launching Reliance’s B2B2C fashion distribution model and was instrumental in the creation and rollout of over 15+ JioMart Fashion pilot stores across India. His tenure also saw the incubation of several mass-market fashion brands and the development of AJIO’s brand identity as part of the New Commerce initiative.
Earlier in his career, Sekar was associated with Britannia Industries, where he held a series of high-impact roles over an eight-year period. He led marketing for flagship brands such as Good Day, Bourbon, Treat, and Tiger, and was the creative force behind landmark campaigns like Britannia Khao, World Cup Jao during the ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup.
