Are you one of those who feel sleepy at work after lunch? Or, you might also be stressed after all the long hours you put in throughout the week. Well, the good news is that this Japanese company has built the perfect ‘nap box’ for you to sleep while standing, to take a break from your hectic schedule.
Itoki – the Tokyo-based office furniture supplier – is the owner of these nap boxes or ‘Kamin boxes’ which were made in collaboration with Koyuju Plywood Corporation. The setup works as a flamingo, where users can comfortably rest their head, back and knees in the setup and take a quick nap while standing in the box.
Why do you need a Nap Box?
Wondering what’s the agenda behind this invention?
It turns out that a few moments of respite in between work can help fulfil the biological and restorative needs of the human body. It is better than working at one stretch, which might cause lethargy by the end of the day.
Saeko Kawashima, the Director of Itoki mentions that rather than users going to the washroom to relieve themselves and take a quick break in between work, it’s better to have a space dedicated entirely for this purpose where users don’t have to hide their business.
Quick naps can be taken during shift hours with ease. This invention also urges other companies to adopt such flexible measures for their employees. Japanese employees are known to put in hours of continuous effort behind work. A nap in between these work hours can prove to be beneficial for a large portion of the crowd.
