Celebrities all over the world are leaving no stone unturned in building their presence globally. In the past decade, there has been a tremendous influx of celebrities branching out of the media to start their own businesses. Beauty brands in particular, seems to be their go-to and anybody who is a somebody seems to have their own company. Keep reading if you want to know which brands these are!

1. Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Swim by Kylie Jenner

The record-breaking beauty brand by one of the Jenner sisters and in just 4 years, it has hit the $1 billion mark. The 22-year-old actress and model capitalised on her fame and much sought-after beauty to create a range of beauty products. The products, including the highly popular Kylie lip kits were an instant success and she later expanded to skin care, hair care and baby products. In 2021, Kylie announced her new swimwear brand Kylie Swim which included 6 styles of swimwear. It became one of the highest selling brands in the wear, despite drawing criticism from many users. The brands add to her growing business empire and she is just getting started!

2. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez

The pop-star, actress, and singer Selena Gomez launched Rare Beauty in 2020 with a philanthropic mission at its centre. The brand is all about experiencing and embracing one’s inner beauty, as well as self-expression. The products include a diverse range of foundations and concealers for the less common shades, and it is marketed to be ‘clean and easy’. The makeup brand runs alongside her non-profit ‘Rare Impact Fund’ and donates 1% of all sales to it with an aim to break mental health stigmas. Her target audience being the Gen Z, many of whom struggle with their mental health, this has added to the brand’s popularity.

3. Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin by Rihanna

Launched in September 2017, Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty strives to offer a broader range of foundation shades. The Skin line is an all-inclusive and aims to give all users glowing skin like its founded. It really catered to women who felt that they were side-lined by the larger beauty industry and challenged the Euro-centric beauty standards and blew the conversation wide-open. With a huge influential star at its helm, it entirely changed the standard for celebrity brands!

4. Ivy Park by Beyonce

The legendary star is not shy of expanding her business empire, including her fashion line House of Deréon with her mom. Her expansion into athleisure and teamed up with TopShop to launch Ivy Park. She later bought full ownership of it in 2018. She was inspired by the culture of Houston Rodeo. Combining the classic elements with the athletic wear, she added her own spin, monogrammed denim, cowhides, etc. Her larger fan following has led to one of the most successful collections!

5. JLo Beauty by Jennier Lopez

The singer and actress recently launched the Jlo Beauty Skincare Line in December 2020. Nearly 20 years before the launch, Lopez was putting her nickname on fragrances so its no surprise that she has taken the jump to her own brand. The 51-year superstar has always been popular for her glowing skin but she faced a lot of backlash for crediting her youthful beauty to SPF and olive oil. However, despite this, the brand gained a huge fan following for its serums, wonder creams, and moisturizer. Safe to say, this won’t be the end of her business journey!

2021 was the year for celebrity brands and this trend is sure to continue in 2022!
