Xiaomi Warns Customers About Fake Headphones

Chinese electronics brand, Xiaomi smartphones and accessories, have been a success in the Indian Market. But all has been not well for the brand.

Many counterfeit headphones and other accessories of the brand have been taking down the company’s goodwill as well as troubling its customers.

To make their stand clear about the matter as well as help its users, Xiaomi has posted a video on Youtube to educate its users on how to differentiate the real ones from the fake products.

On 25 November 2019, Delhi police seized counterfeit Xiaomi smartphones and accessories valued at 13 lakh. Xiaomi announced that the police seized this from four suppliers in Karol Bagh’s Gaffar Market. The counterfeit products seized include Mi power banks, Mi Neckbands, Mi Headphones, Redmi AirDots, Mi 2-in-1 USB Ca ble, etc.

Xiaomi claimed that the police had discovered that these four suppliers were dealing in counterfeit products for years and were selling them in retail and wholesale to their customers.

Reportedly, Gaffar Market has been a hub for fake an counterfeit products not just for Xiaomi but for many other big brands like iphone and Samsung. In 2015, Delhi police had seized over 30 fake iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 models along with more than 4,000 of assembling materials including spare parts.

According to estimates by OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), smartphone companies may have lost €45.3 Billion in revenue due to counterfeits in 2017, with 184 million fake smartphone being sold worldwide every year.
