Xiaomi Trolls Realme & Calls It A ‘Copy Cat’ On Twitter

| Published on January 22, 2020

Realme & Xiaomi are the two the big brands of the electronics sector who have been seen locking horns every now and then. Each has a strong hold when it comes to the sale of cellphones in India.

But very often we see or read news about how one brand has pointed out another’s shortcomings all in the name of marketing. Very recently, Realme‘s CEO, Madhav Sheth, was scene accusing Xiaomi of promoting advertisements on their cellphone devices.

During the launch of Realme 3 in 2019, Madhav stated that,

We don’t sell ads, we sell phones.

The statement was a direct dig on Xiaomi’s Ads feature on its handsets. But soon, the tables turned and after a couple of months we saw how Realme smartphones were displaying ads as well. Though the brand soon made an announcement stating that they will be sharing a ‘disable ads’ option for the same.

But how could Xiaomi miss such an opportunity to give it back. Xiaomi‘s Global VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter and call out its competitor for ‘copying them’.

Anuj Sharma, Xiaomi India’s head of marketing was quick to join the team Xiaomi and take a short at their rival brand as well.

This might not be the first time that Realme was trolled through social media. Poco India‘s General Manager C Manmohan recently posted a meme attacking Realme and indirectly accusing the brand of copying their technology.

Whatever your stand me in all this, one thing is clear, these tech-feuds make for an entertaining read on social media feeds.
