Piush Kothari has stepped down from his role as Executive Vice President and Head of Subscriptions (SVOD) and Media at JioHotstar, where he had been serving since November 2024. In this position, he oversaw subscription strategy and media initiatives for the streaming platform.
He announced this shift via a heartfelt LinkedIn post.
Before taking on this role, Kothari held multiple senior leadership positions within the Disney ecosystem. At Disney+ Hotstar, he served as Head of Product, Growth, Partnerships and International Expansion, and earlier led Corporate Office and Strategic Projects. He also worked as Head of Business Operations at Mashal Sports, and represented Disney as a Nominee Director on the Board of Mashal Sports, the organisation behind the Pro Kabaddi League.
Prior to this, Kothari served as Head of the Group Executive Office at Welspun Group from December 2018 to September 2019, where he worked on strategic initiatives across the group.
Earlier, he spent over five years at Aditya Birla Group in two significant leadership roles. He was Joint President and Business Head – Digital, Analytics and Strategy at Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank from August 2016 to December 2018, and previously served as Vice President in the Chairman’s Office at Aditya Birla Group from April 2013 to August 2016, focusing on strategic and corporate initiatives.
Before this, Kothari spent over eight years at Accenture as Principal, Accenture Strategy between December 2004 and April 2013, advising organisations on business strategy and transformation.
In the past, Kothari was associated with Shell, where he worked as a Channel Development Manager from June 2002 to December 2004.
