Eurosport India, the sports channel of Warner Bros. Discovery, is set to enter into a three-year broadcast agreement with the Badminton Association of India for the Yonex Sunrise India Open, covering the 2026, 2027 and 2028 editions of the tournament. The agreement moves away from the earlier year-on-year arrangement and establishes a longer-term partnership focused on continuity, coverage and fan engagement for the badminton tournament.
The partnership will commence with the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2026, scheduled to be held from January 13 to 18, 2026, in New Delhi. Under the agreement, Eurosport India will provide coverage of the tournament, allowing viewers across the country to follow international players and Indian shuttlers participating in the event.
Beyond live match coverage, the three-year collaboration will see Eurosport India and the Badminton Association of India working on promoting the India Open and other BAI initiatives. The longer-term agreement is expected to provide a platform to build athlete-led narratives, strengthen the tournament’s profile, and support badminton’s presence across broadcast and digital platforms.
The timing of the agreement coincides with India hosting the 2026 BWF World Championships later in the year. The India Open and the World Championships together place India prominently on the global badminton calendar and reflect the country’s role as a host for international competitions.
With this agreement, Eurosport India continues to extend its association with Indian sport as a broadcast partner for national and international competitions. For the Badminton Association of India, the partnership provides continued television visibility and alignment with an international broadcaster as Indian badminton maintains its presence on the global stage.
Mr. Arjun Nowhar, SVP & Managing Director, India & South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “This long-term partnership with the Badminton Association of India reflects our focus on building marquee sports properties through consistent, high-quality broadcast and storytelling. By committing to the Yonex Sunrise India Open over an extended period, we can move beyond event-led coverage and create sustained engagement for fans, athletes and partners alike. As a global media network, our strength lies in scale, reach and distribution that help place Indian sport more firmly on the international stage.”
Sanjay Mishra, General Secretary, Badminton Association of India, said, “The Yonex-Sunrise India Open has grown steadily over the years, both in terms of competition and audience interest. Partnering with Eurosport allows us to take the tournament to a wider television audience and ensure fans across the country can follow the action closely. This collaboration reflects the growing appetite for badminton in India and our commitment to making the sport more accessible.”
